TYPES
OF DRUG TESTING PRODUCTS
There are many high-quality, FDA-approved drug testing products (test kits)
available for purchase at reasonable costs by individuals, organizations, law
enforcement agencies and businesses. These tests are often used as part
of the employment screening process, as well as prior to an important promotion
of an employee. The tests may also be used to find out if drugs are the
reason for an employee’s frequent absences or erratic behavior on the job.
Additionally, drug tests are frequently used by hospitals as part of assessing
the overall condition of an individual.
These drug testing kits can be used for qualitative detection of the applicable
drugs and their metabolites, but provide only preliminary analytical results.
A more specific method must be used to confirm the results, and gas chromatography/mass
spectrometry is the preferred method. When drug of abuse preliminary test
results are positive, clinical consideration plus professional judgment should
be used for verification.
